The struggles of last year seem to have been left behind by Ssangyong. Now that Indian manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra has taken over the dreams and hopes of the South Korean SUV manufacturer, Ssangyong is ready to present to the world the Korando C.
Packing a 2.0l turbo diesel engine which develops 175 PS, the model comes equipped as standard with ABS and EBD. It will be offered with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel, with a gasoline engine likely to make it into production as well. The gasoline engine will be a 1.8l one.
Prices for the model have not yet been announced, but it's clear that Ssangyong is placing all its bets on the success of the new model.
“The Korando C is a model that strengthens Ssangyong’s mid and long-term lineups and is a strategic model that will contribute to stabilizing the company,” Lee Yoo-il, joint manager of Ssangyong told indianautosblog.com.
The first 450 units of the new Korando C departed the Pyeongtaek International Port in Gyeonggi yesterday, heading for markets in Spain and Belgium. The plans for the new model are quite ambitious, with the South Korean carmaker setting a 10,000 units target for itself in the first year of sale.
Back in July this year, rumor of the Korando C showing up in Paris for its first encounter with the European consumers surfaced.
