The JCB GT Is the Fastest Digger in the World

You must have had one of those days being stuck on a narrow street behind a slow bulldozer or digger. It really sucks and there’s nothing you can do, because those things barely have horsepower and rely on torque to go around and eat dirt all day long.
Which means they can accelerate pretty fast but reach a top speed of around 50 km/h (31 mph), while making a lot of noise and shaking everything on a 2-meter radius.

The JCB you see here is not your ordinary digger described above. It’s been named the JCB GT and just like the Mercedes AMG GT does in its class, so does this tractor for its kin - impress with acceleration and top speed.

The digger has been crowned the fastest digger on the planet after “The Dig”, its specially designated driver, took it from zero to 72.58 mph (116.8 km/h), or about double the normal speed such a contraption goes for on any other day.

Originally designed to perform high-speed wheelies at racing events, the JCB GT now made the top speed attempt in front of independent record officials at Bathurst, near Sydney.

There’s no diesel engine powering this backhoe, as it has been replaced by a massive 7.4-liter V8 Chevy engine cranking over 1,000 hp. Other mods have been performed, such as a light steel chassis, fiberglass body, aluminum bucket and smaller front wheels. Check it doing its thing in the video below.
