Great news for the Ford and "The X-Files" fans alike, as their favorite Explorer is making its long-awaited comeback in the show that set the standard for sci-fi television.
The Explorer Platinum will be FBI Agent Dana Scully's partner throughout the highly anticipated six-episode series.

"Pairing the vehicle that set the bar for SUVs with the show that set the standard for sci-fi television is a great relationship. To be part of an iconic television show that is so technology-centric is a perfect fit for Explorer, a vehicle loaded with driver-assist technology," Ginger Kasanic, Ford Marketing Manager, SUVs, and Technology, commented.

"The X-Files" is aired at approximately 10 p.m EST/ 7 p.m PST on FOX, immediately following the NFC Championship game, so make sure you have enough popcorn.

The car will be integrated into a scene from the second night of the show's two-part premiere, scheduled to air at 8.pm EST/ 5 pm PST on Monday.

The Explorer will not be the only Ford making it into the show as an Escape, a Mustang, and a black Taurus will also be featured throughout the season.

There is a strong connection between America's best-selling car brand and "The X-Files," as the automaker's vehicles were featured in the show when it debuted in 1993, and Agent Fox Mulder played by David Duchovny referred to his Ford Taurus as "a good American car."

The vehicle was not chosen by mistake to make its appearance on this show. The Explorer has been the best-selling SUV in the US for 25 years, and since the all-new model was introduced in 2011, the car achieved four consecutive years of sales increases in the United States.

The Platinum version made its debut last fall and features a leather-wrapped interior, industry-exclusive 500-watt Sony Audio System, and smart technology such as an improved active park assist, a lane-keeping system, and rain-sensing wipers.
