Though Porsche fans have been largely labeled as a conservative community, the modern Porsche tuning and customization industry is thriving, with plenty of independent shops developing their own signature styles and traits and improving on already iconic automotive designs like the German brand's 911 and 356.
Truth be told, hardly anyone can escape the charm of a classic Porsche. Artist, designer, and custom car builder Richard Gonçalves, who operates ROCS Motorsport in New Jersey, has been reimagining and customizing vintage Porches since 1995. His latest creation is a one-off 911 inspired by the wildly popular Star Wars science fiction media franchise.

Aptly named the "Tatooine" after a fictional desert planet that appears in the Star Wars franchise, this unique creation is based on a 1990 Porsche 964 C4 Cabriolet and celebrates the cultural significance of Porsche and Star Wars. It retains the Stuttgart brand's core visual DNA while adding stunning visual elements that pay homage to the sci-fi universe created by George Lucas.

If you ever wondered what a Porsche would look like if it were a prop vehicle on the desert planet of Tatooine, this art car might be your answer. The captivating design comes with an intentionally rough finish that aims to reminisce the exterior of a starship that has traveled through space. Moreover, the donor car boasts custom flared fenders at all four corners and a rear spoiler inspired by Millennium Falcon, the fictional starship in Star Wars. Graphics that use Aurebesh symbols from the Star Wars alphabet adorn the car's body.

The one-of-a-kind safari-style build also benefits from a custom front steel bumper with an integrated light pod, a custom rear bumper with a tow hitch, and a skid plate. It rides on a set of weathered five-arm Fuchs-style wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires, and a full-size spare wheel rests on the car's hood. The designer also donned the car's doors with a set of recovery boards, and a bespoke vanity plate reading "TAT2INE" completes the exterior design.

The tuner hasn't messed with the mechanicals of the donor car too much, but he did fit it with a custom tuned off-road suspension. The aim was to create a versatile multi-use all-wheel-drive 911 that is not only a head-turner in the urban landscape but can also take you on rougher terrain, while also towing a jet ski, camper, or snowmobile.

Matching the vintage patina of the exterior, the interior of this unique car also has a weathered look with wrinkled and worn-out seats and matching dash and door panels.

The ROCS Porsche 911 Tatooine is more than just a means of transportation; it's a personal statement, a stunning work of art that has the ability to teleport you to the iconic Star Wars universe.

In the words of the designer himself, "This project goes beyond the realm of automotive art; it is a celebration of the cultural significance of both Porsche and Star Wars. Both are symbols of innovation, craftsmanship, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. By merging these two forces, I aimed to create a unique cultural statement that resonates with enthusiasts from both worlds."

The one-off Tatooine 911 build is accompanied by a specially styled Group C watch that captures the artistic vision behind this project and has been created in collaboration with Autodromo, one of ROCS Motorsport's partners.
