The Electric Future of Chrysler Looks Bright and Shiny, Albeit Only Virtually

Stellantis is ready to embrace the latest trends across the automotive market. However, because it has too many subsidiaries, it is also moving eerily slowly at times.
Formed from the merger of Italian-American group FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) and the French PSA conglomerate, Stellantis was the fourth-biggest carmaker by deliveries, slotting behind Toyota, VW AG, and Hyundai-Kia. It also encompasses a massive roster of 14 brands: Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Opel, Peugeot, Ram, and Vauxhall.

Some of them are bright stars like Dodge, Peugeot, Jeep, or Ram, while others are mere shadows of their former selves, like Lancia, Fiat, or Chrysler. For example, the company is also putting Alfa Romeo on the right track and mixing the latest ICE-power tech with the novel EV lifestyle.

But some Mopar fans might still feel abandoned because the carmaker is actively 'ignoring' some of its greatest assets – such as the Chrysler brand. Once the third-most powerful carmaker in America, the brand founded in 1925 has struggled to find its pace in modern times – and today only sells the Chrysler Pacifica and Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid minivans, plus the soon-to-retire Chrysler 300 full-size sedan.

That's a shame, especially since Stellantis has promised numerous times that it will resurrect the Chrysler brand and give it a fresh lease of life for the EV age. However, until now, nothing has happened aside from the disparate concept car here and there. That certainly angered some folks, and a few may have even decided to take matters into their own hands – or rather, at the tip of their CGI brush, as is the case with the imaginative realm of digital car content creators.

For example, Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm. He recently imagined the potential looks of the rumored Toyota Land Cruiser FJ and the next-gen 4Runner, a fresh Mazda MX-6 coupe, as well as many two-door sports car revivals like the Ford Probe, Nissan 240SX, Mitsubishi Eclipse, or the Toyota Celica, among others.

Well, now it's also time to focus on the domestic fortunes of the Chrysler brand. So, just recently, the pixel master bundled all of his ideas for the American automaker in one place and gave us the story of Chrysler's EV revival. Some of them are pretty far-fetched, such as the return of the Sebring coupe and convertible on the STLA EV platform. Others, however, are more than logical – a Pacifica EV minivan to continue alongside the ICE-powered and PHEV versions.

A few, of course, are beautiful wishful thinking: a fully electric replacement of the 300 sedan coming to life on the same architecture as the upcoming Dodge Charger Daytona SRT, as well as a large crossover SUV that could battle the latest introductions and forthcoming models like the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 7, Volkswagen ID.8, and more.
