BMW unveiled the XM last year with aggressive styling and impressive numbers. The crossover SUV was, after all, only the second model entirely developed by the M division after the M1 in 1978. But now Renegade Design comes up with a plastic surgery that makes the XM seem meaner than ever.
Back in September 2022, the BMW XM came as the first electrified M model. Despite its attempt to go with the electrification flow of the car industry, the XM was not exactly a people pleaser. It is hard for the BMW die-hard fans to feel love at first sight when a new model strays away from everything else the brand has been promoting in terms of design.

But now, wearing the OTT bodykit, the XM is here to make a statement. It looks controversial and belligerent, with so much of it in carbon fiber. A carbon fiber splitter showed up front below the hexagonal radiator grille, also made in the same material, with gold surround.

Flared carbon fiber wheel arches showed up on the sides, making the BMW XM more intimidating. They host a new set of multi-spoke HRE wheels. From the side, there is no way you could miss the carbon fiber mirror caps and side skirts.

There is a new diffuser at the rear, made – of course – of carbon fiber, plus a daring roof spoiler.

Renedage Design does not provide any information on it, but they probably interfered with the suspension, since the BMW XM sits lower. But one thing is for sure: there is no change in performance. That means that the model is still powered by the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, capable of 483 horsepower (489 PS) and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. The ICE works working in the company of an electric motor integrated in the eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

The electric motor, powered by a 25.7-kWh battery, brings 194 horsepower (197 PS) and 207 lb-ft (281 Nm) into the mix, for a total of 644 horsepower (653 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). Unless you’re dealing with the Red Label, and then we’re talking about 738 horsepower (748 PS).

The XM is equipped with all-wheel drive, as well as with an M Sport differential, mounted on the rear axle, allowing for torque vectoring.

All these make the BMW run from 0 to 60 mph (0-97 kph) in 4.1 seconds. The Red Label version does the exact same thing 0.3 seconds faster: in 3.8 seconds.

No word on pricing either, but one thing is for sure. Only ten people will be able to get their hands on such a car, Renegade Design announced. That is how many the tuner will make starting September.
