The iconic Alfa Romeo 4C is making a brief comeback, and Abarth is to blame for it, as the brand glued its famous scorpion on the rear of the model. The two-door sports coupe that was discontinued back in 2020 returns with retro styling to mark 75 years of Abarth. Only five will be built.
The last Alfa Romeo 4C had rolled off the production line four years ago, after having remained six years in production. Stellantis is reviving the model as a tribute to the Fiat-Abarth OT 1300 from 1965, which claimed victories at the Nurburgring, Monza, and Mugello, to mark the Abarth Anniversary and calls it Abarth Classiche 1300 OT.

The last time such a stint took place was in 2021, when the brand rolled out the Abarth Classiche 1000 SP right before FC Heritage became Stellantis Heritage following the FCA-PSA merger.

The pint-sized coupe, heavily based on the Alfa Romeo 4C but with some bodywork that sets it apart from the original, was unveiled as a full-scale model at Stellantis' Heritage Hub in Turin, northern Italy.

It is built around a full carbon-fiber monocoque, unlike the original. It comes with a new design and a carbon fiber body, sporting a louvered rear window and the prominent Abarth lettering at the back, right on the full-width engine air vent, in the company of the trapezoidal setup, which replaces the original dual exhaust, placed underneath the new bumper.

The roof-mounted periscope air intake mimics the one of the race car from the 1960s, while the Alfa Romeo logo has been replaced by the Abarth Scorpion. Abarth claims that this rear is specifically designed to emphasize the bond with the historic design.

The brand unveiled its second electric model, the 237-horsepower Abarth 600e, back in February. But they will not go electric with the revived 4C.

The two-seat sports coupe is powered by Alfa 4C's 1.75-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that pumps out 237 horsepower (241 metric horsepower), driving the rear wheels through a twin-clutch gearbox.

In the Alfa 4C, that was enough for a run from 0 to 100 kph (0 to 62 mph) in 4.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 160 mph (258 kph). However, there is no info about how much in can do in the new model.

Just like the Abarth Classiche 100 SP, only five 1300 LOTs will roll off the production line, all of them produced and marketed by the Stellantis Heritage division.

Those willing to drive the retro-styled pocket rocket home can already place their orders, but they will have to hurry. The Abarth Classiche 100 SP sold out in a record time, according to Abarth. However, there is no word on pricing just yet.
