The M3 Touring hasn’t even blown two candles off its birthday cake, with the official unveiling dating back to June 2022. However, BMW's M Division has already started working on its mid-cycle refresh, which is understandable, given that the M3 Sedan is also undergoing similar changes, and the two-door M4 was already unveiled for the 2025 model year.
Visually, the changes are very discreet, despite the trippy camouflage applied to the face of the prototypes that were caught at the Nurburgring close to the Arctic Circle. We expect to see a tweaked bumper and fresh lighting units, though you will certainly miss the changes if you blink.

For now, the premium compact sports wagon's back end carries over with no updates whatsoever. However, these are still early testers, so BMW has enough time to give the model a new bumper and diffuser and improve the taillamps. It is possible that the M logo on the tailgate will be different, mirroring the one of the facelifted M4.

The standard steering wheel might be revised for the mid-cycle refresh, perhaps featuring a 12 o'clock marker. Other updates will probably revolve around the upholstery and trim, and we wouldn't be surprised if the Munich car marque revises the software of the two main screens, comprising the 14.9-inch infotainment and 12.3-inch digital gauges.

Powering the current M3 Touring is a 3.0L straight-six twin-turbo, which develops 503 horsepower (510 ps/375 kW) and pumps out 479 pound-foot (650 Nm) of torque. The M4 Competition has received a power boost, enjoying an extra 20 hp (20 ps/15 kW), so chances are that the M3 Touring will also have 523 hp (530 ps/390 kW) to play with.

Due to the extra oomph, the 0 to 62 miles per hour (0 to 100 kph) acceleration might be slightly improved from the current car's 3.6 seconds. Don't look for anything drastic, as it is likely to be one-tenth of a second faster. The maximum speed should be identical at 174 mph (280 kph).

For quicker rides, BMW's M Division is also prepping the M3 CS Touring. This model is expected to have 543 hp (550 ps/405 kW) and 479 pound-foot (650 Nm) of torque, just like its sedan sibling. It should take 3.4 or 3.5 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 kph) from zero, and it will feature the same design revisions as the facelifted M3 Touring, albeit with a more aggressive body kit, interior enhancements and retuned chassis to set it apart.

It is yet unknown when the M3 Touring will premiere, but our bet is that it will be at the end of the year or the first half of 2025, and the M3 CS Touring will likely join it shortly after the grand unveiling.
