The guys from /DRIVE decided to take a closer look into what the BMW E30 cult is becoming and how its adherents are shaping up, to make sure that the gearheads are still alive and amongst us.
Out of the great deal of various car cults out there, you probably guessed that for me, the E30 M3 one is pretty special. Not just because of the recent popularity the car has been dealing with but also because of what it represents.
I won’t go into details right now but if you don’t know what the E30 model meant for BMW and the ‘M3’ badge in particular, you probably aren’t such a hardcore Bimmer fan as you imagined.
Matt Farrah got to test drive a turbocharged E30 M3 just a little while ago, belonging to one true, passionate BMW enthusiast and decided to share the experience. The car was completely home built and upgraded, Kameron Baker (the owner) building even the turbocharger for the thing.
The result was so impressive that all of his E30-owning friends are now coming to him to help them hook up their rides and things are looking up for the young man. We even spot a possible business venture here, who knows?
What I do know is that the car is pushing close to 400 HP to the wheels out of the majestic S14 2.3-liter, 4-cylinder engine under the bonnet and it looks absolutely great to drive, as you’re about to see.
