Tesla Roadster Right-Hand Drive Launched in London

American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla announced today the launch of the right-hand drive version of it still single production model, the Roadster. In the UK, the Roadster will start at £86,950.

According to Tesla, UK companies that purchase a Roadster benefit from a 100 percent writing down allowance, meaning they can deduct 100 percent of the cost of the Tesla from their taxable profits, making it the only sports car that has ever qualified for a such a tax incentive in the country.

In addition, Roadster drivers can skip paying the London congestion charge and can park for free and without time limits in various London boroughs. Owners will be offered up to four hours of free charging at certain parking sites, and they are exempt from the forthcoming £950 showroom
tax.

"The right-hand-drive model is our response to growing demand from high-performance car buyers in the UK who are also interested in their impact on the environment,"
Cristiano Carlutti, Tesla's Vice President for European Sales and Operations said. "Tesla is dramatically expanding its retail footprint in Europe, we look forward to building our community of owners and fans throughout the continent."

The Roadster can travel 200 miles on a single charge and can be fully or partially recharged by solar or wind power. It comes equipped with noise-reduction materials, an upgraded sound system and other enhancements.

In addition to the UK, the right-hand drive version of the Roadster will head for Japan, Australia and India.
