We've talked about the Tesla Model S P100D drag strip phenomenon on multiple occasions, and we're here to show you the limits of the Tesla Model S range topper's current setup.
The upper limit of the Model S P100D's drag racing abilities is showcased in the clip at the bottom of the page, which shows the electric sedan duking it out with a Porsche 911 Turbo S.
The Neunelfer didn't come in stock form and, if we were to be mean to EVs, we'd mention that, perhaps, the tuning bits the owner chose were there to ensure the supercar doesn't get affected by the generation gap, since we're talking about a 997 incarnation of the Turbo S.
With the mods installed on this Zuffenhausen machine being listed in the video, we won't invite you to read them twice, but we'll mention the rear-engined coupe now packs around 600 ponies and just as many lb-ft of torque. So yes, this puts the Porscha ahead of the current 991.2 Turbo S, which packs 580 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque.
We'd like to remind you that the numbers you get to see at the end of the 1,320 feet battle don't take the reaction time into account - how quick each driver takes off the line only influences the... visual winner of the race.
Since we're taking Tesla drag racing matters, we'll have to revisit the topic soon. That's because, as Elon Musk announced on Twitter, Tesla will deliver an over-the-air P100D upgrade in December. Coming as an Easter Egg (of course), this will allow the range-topping Model S to play the quarter-mile game in 10.6s, while also bringing other velocity benefits.
P.S.: You'll notice a black Ferrari 488 Spider behind the said 911 in the video. This is probably the Prancing Horse that battled another Model S P100D on the same drag strip.
