Although many consider the Cybertruck to be Tesla's most significant achievement in 2023, there's another model that has garnered even more interest. The refreshed Model 3 was launched in Europe and Asia in September and is now eagerly awaited in the US. If rumors prove true, the American Highland will start sales soon, with an official announcement in the coming weeks.
Believe it or not, the revamped Model 3 arriving in Europe and Asia has kept more people attached to their devices' screens than the Cybertruck. This has been somehow unexpected, considering that Tesla's electric sedan has been less popular in the past years. People all over the world are now big SUV fans, and this explains why the Model Y is now the bestseller, far outnumbering the Model 3.

However, last year's refresh has hit a chord with customers and fans. From the first Model 3 Highland leaks, it was clear that the revamped model is set to regain some of its former fame. With the updated Model 3 launched in Europe and Asia, the interest in Tesla's electric sedan is higher than ever. The fact that new owners mainly reported good things about the new Model 3 buoyed its popularity.

This is also true in the US, where Tesla still sells the old Model 3. The original model looks dated compared to the one sold in Europe, and this is why everyone is eagerly awaiting the American Highland. Judging by the increased number of prototypes spotted in the US, the moment is near. Fresh rumors indicate that Tesla might make the official announcement in the coming weeks. According to a Redditor who claims to work at Tesla, this is planned to happen before Sunday, although we should take this with a grain of salt.

Tesla is preparing to hold its quarterly earnings call on January 24, this being a good moment to let anyone know that the refreshed Model 3 has arrived in the US. If it decides to make the announcement earlier, or even make it a silent event, as it happened in China and Europe, it remains to be seen. What we know is that Tesla is already building the Model 3 Highland at its factory in Fremont. The VIN on a previously spotted prototype revealed as much.

There's further proof that production at Fremont is well underway, although we don't know how advanced this is. Unlike the blue prototype in the previous report, where everything looked very well put together, this white prototype has visibly misaligned body panels. The pictures and a video shared on Reddit claim to be from a white Model 3 produced at Fremont, with the VIN decoder showing it's a Model 3 RWD. Based on the VIN, it's a 2024 build, as opposed to the Blue one, which had a 2023 VIN.

In this case, the tailgate doesn't have the Chinese lettering that was present on the other Fremont-made prototype. One thing to note is that the amber reflectors in the headlights seem to be smaller than on previously spotted prototypes. This has been a major talking point in the US since the European version doesn't have them, but US regulations require them.
