Takuma Sato Signs Deal with KV Racing

After several years of struggling to secure a racing spot in the Formula One Championship, Japanese driver Takuma Sato decided to look elsewhere for a progression of his racing career. So he chose the next best thing, namely the North American version of the championship, the IndyCar Series.

We can now confirm that Sato signed a full-time deal with KV Racing for the upcoming season of the IndyCar Series, where he will make his debut in North American single-seaters under the close guidance of Jimmy Vasser and Kevin Kalkhoven. Prior to closing the agreement, the Japanese driver completed a maiden test for the team at Sebring, earlier this week.

This is a very exciting time for me and all my supporters. I have really missed racing last year and can't wait to get started in this new challenge with such a great team,” said the 92 grand prix starter in Formula One.

To me, KV Racing Technology is a team with massive potential and great team spirit. With such a great champion as Jimmy leading the team, I am really confident that we will soon be a strong combination. I want to thank sincerely everyone who has continued to support me through difficult times and look forward to enjoying success together very soon,” added the 33-year old.

Sato will likely join Ernesto Viso in KV Racing's lineup for the 2010 season, after the team previously contested in the 2009 IndyCars with only one car (Mario Moraes).

I can't wait to see what I know will be a extremely fast pace by Taku on the road courses and look forward to working with him and getting him up to speed on the ovals. I have no doubt that Taku will be right on the pace immediately. Taku's knowledge and experience will be a great asset and his great sense of humour and easy manner will add positive energy to our team,” added Vasser, revealing his confidence in the driver that is yet to gain some experience on oval tracks.
