Volkswagen Group has reported that their operational profits have increased by 46 percent in the third quarter of the year, backed by strong demand from emerging markets and for SUVs.
Rumor has it that Volkswagen stands a chance to be named the world’s largest automotive group by sales volume this year, beating Toyota and GM. The results achieved so far indicate that the Germans are well on their way to actually beating their original sales estimate of 8 million vehicles delivered globally this year.

In order to keep up with demand, Audi has had to cancel summer slowdowns in production of the Q5 and move the Q7 to round-the-clock manufacturing in Slovakia.

“Our strong business performance shows the strength and stability of our strategy,”
Winterkorn said in a statement. “In light of the current economic uncertainties, we are continuing to monitor developments in the global automotive markets extremely closely.”
