Mirrors and blinkers are completely useless for certain drivers, as they will never use them and every now and then, failing to notice what's going on around the car results in crashes.
Now, two cars bumping a bit in the urban traffic is nothing to write home about: some bent doors, flying bumpers and a bit of verbal abuse and that's it. Drivers get along, sometimes they don't even call the cops and the insurance companies see to the repairs.
Unfortunately, bikes have no bumpers and they don't even need being crashed into really hard to become unstable, and that's why we hate the drivers who never look around before changing lanes and all.
They don't seem to understand that they're not alone on the road... or maybe they just don't care and know that all the metal surrounding them is a pretty decent shield against this kind of bumping. Too bad for those unlucky enough to cross their way and not being nimble enough to avoid them.
