Easily Avoidable Motorcycle Crash Is Not Avoided

While some mishaps on the road are true accidents, many of the crashes could be easily avoided if only the motorists paid more attention to the traffic.
The crash in this video is one of the textbook examples for how easily could the nasty outcome have been avoided. For starters, the biker was speeding: with most European countries having a 50-60 km/h limit in busy city areas, the guy was off. Not way off, but just enough to add one more risk to the situation.

On the other hand, the car driver looks like he/she either did not look at all for incoming traffic prior to steering left, or has utterly misjudged the bike's speed. Either way, the car driver has the biggest role in this, because he/she had to give way to incoming vehicles.

Now, back to the rider: he either did not look for the care preparing to steer left, and has only braked in the last couple of meters, way to late to make a significant difference. And that's wrong because speeding through a busy junction was never the best way to make it safely in one piece back home.

Too bad the rider had to learn this lesson the hard way...
