Reigning champion Marc Marquez was the fastest rider this morning at Sachsenring. The young Spaniard went inside Dani Pedrosa's Circuit Record, lapping the Sachsenring in 1'21.7666, as opposed to his teammate's 2011 1'21.846, and this is a good indication that we're up for a most interesting Sunday.
It's going to be a fiery weekend at Sachsenring, as the German GP is the final round before the summer break. With Rossi leading Lorenzo by 10 points and Marquez struggling to claw back the points he lost in the three races, the stakes are really high this weekend.

Dani Pedrosa has the most wins at Sachsenring, as he crossed the finish line first on no less than four occasions, with Valentino Rossi as the next-best successful rider, with three wins.

The Doctor was in fact second this morning, too, lapping 0.336s slower than Marquez. A nice surprise came from Scott Redding, who was only 0.065s slower than Rossi and 0.076s faster than Dani Pedrosa. Yonny Hernandez got the better of Andrea Dovizioso in FP1, who in turn was 0.017s faster than Jorge Lorenzo. Top ten was complete with Aleix Espagaro, Cal Crutchlow and Andrea Iannone.

Turn 11 is still the trickiest section at Sachsenring

Turn 11 at Sachsenring looks again like one of the trickiest sections of the German circuit. It has claimed two "victims" already, Pol Espargaro and Alvaro Bautista. Both riders crashed in almost identical situations, losing grip at the front wheel. No news about any of them being injured arrived at the time of writing so we can assume they are both alright.

MotoGP Free Practice 2 is about to start in a couple of minutes (at the time of writing) and we are going to keep you posted with what's happening on the track.
