Street Race: 2013 Shelby GT500 vs Corvette ZR1

Despite the numerous videos we post of people racing on the drag strip, we know that most cars out there will actually be raced between the lights on a Saturday night.
So when people imagine a race between the brand new kings of the muscle car world, they actually envision a road race between the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 and the Corvette ZR1, something a little bit like this.

The ZR1 has a tuned air filter, while the Mustang has a pulley and intake tune. The result is a bit like what we expected, as there’s no way to compensate for a dedicated sportscar’s performance. The Corvette gently but surely pulls ahead, as the Ford seems to have problems shifting smoothly.

While the GT500 is the best incarnation of the Mustang, the ZR1 was designed to fight Ferraris on the track.
