With drifting having entered a new era nowadays, one that sees it earning general recognition as a serious discipline, we can't help but wonder when cross-action fans will come up with a mix involving sideways shenanigans and drag racing.
After all, people looking for such thrills would only need to seek inspiration in no prep drag strip battles. You see, while most drag races see the asphalt receiving special treatment with the aim to improve traction, this kind of races involves participants going all out on the naked surface.

And when such events are attended by infamous machines such as the Deathtrap Fox Body Ford Mustang we've met on Discovery Channel's Street Outlaws show, 1,320 feet sprinting becomes drifting.

The piece of footage below brings us the latest example of this, which saw the Deathtrap 'Stang taking part in the Outlaw Armageddon's No Prep race.

The owner of the car, Chuck, started racing during the day, but the true spectacle came once night fell. It all has to do with a save that has to be seen to be believed. This was the kind of event that could've easily totaled both cars, but damaged nothing but the tires. For the record, the other vehicle was also a Fox Body, one that happens to be nicknamed Lucifer.

Speaking of rubber, the Deathtrap, which mixes a Chevy Small Block and a pair of massive turbos, is still running in the small tire class. However, Chuck has big tire plans and we can't wait to see what happens once this Fox Body goes all in.

Even so, the man makes an awesome job at launching his Mustang, as you'll be able to see in the clip below. Mixing amazing quarter mile passes with the extremely close call mentioned above makes for a spectacle that's worth our undivided attention.
