Back in March, the Korean automaker revealed a concept version of its four-door pickup at the Geneva Motor Show, but now it’s time to check out the full production SsangYoung SUT-1 ‘Sports Utility Truck’. Renamed the Korando Sports for reason we don’t really understand, the vehicle has gone on sale in the South Korean market.
Under the bonnet is the usual SsangYoung lump, their efficient 2.0-liter diesel that puts out a respectable 155 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque between 1,500 and 2,800 rpm. The power is sent to the back, but you can also have its with part-time 4WD and a six-sped automatic if that’s your thing.
The vehicles promises ultra-rigid frame body construction and is equipped with front seat dual airbags and seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters. Passenger safety is further prioritised through the installation of ISOFIX attachments for a child seat and ESP (Electronic Stability Program), including various functions such as Active Rollover Protection and Brake Assist System (ABS).
