SsangYong has announced its Korando crossover is now available for order in Europe, with a choice between two trim levels, front or four-wheel drive and only one engine option.
The base model 2.0 e-Xdi with front-wheel drive, in C spec starts at €21,990 (GBP18,750), while the same model costs €23,990 (GBP20,430) in its Classy trim level. Expect the price to grow by €2,000 is you want your Korando to come with a six-speed automatic transmission.
The basic C trim level offers ESP, ABS + EDB, FTCS (traction control) and HSA (assistance for hill starts), 6 airbags, manual climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels with 215/65 tires, cruise control, tinted windows, fog lamps, rear parking sensors and Bluetooth connectivity. Meanwhile, Classy spec adds heated seats and upholstered in leather, automatic climate control and 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 tires. So the only feature currently available as an option is metallic paint.
Designed in Europe by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the new car offers a more contemporary look than its predecessors while also featuring a monocoque construction, another first for the marque which has traditionally utilized ladder-rack chassis architecture. Its main European competitors are expected to be Ford Kuga, Hyundai ix35, Kia Sportage, Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan.
