The carrousel corner of the Nurburgring has given us the best opportunity yet to examine the next generation of the C63 AMG, the super saloon which will next year do battle with BMW's new M3.
The hardcore version of the all-new C-Class, the fourth model in Mercedes history to have this name, will now drop its M156 6.2-liter normally aspirated V8 in favor of a new twin-turbo 4-liter.

Some rumors suggest this will have 465 hp, some over 480, but an increase in both power and torque is sure to come. Merc is working on a new AMG sportscar called the C190, also nicknamed the baby SLS or SLC. That will have the same engine, codenamed M177 pushed up to 485 hp. This should make it into the new C63 AMG Black Series.

This latest set of spyshots is the best look yet of the new C63 AMG. This is the first time show the contours of the beefy AMG bumpers with the big air intakes and the all-important rear double exhausts in production trim.

Our spies stationed at the 'Ring tell us this prototype car started to smoke after three laps, so it's premature to say when it will be ready for production.

Until the C63 AMG comes out in full, we can look forward to the regular W205 C-Class some time later this year.
