Why turn a four-door CLA coupe into a five-door estate? Because it's one of the few Mercedes cars that look good in red and Santa needs a good, fast ride to deliver his gifts to all the lower corporate people who met their targets this year.
Santa references aside, the CLA Shooting Brake, a yet unrevealed compact car from the silver arrow makers, has been spotted undergoing testing in winter conditions.
From the star grille to the AMG cosmetic package, this is pretty much the same car as we saw at the end of November. The fact that it's started a winter testing session indicates to us that the estate model will likely not be available to buy for at least another 6 months.
When it does go on sale, expect a range of engines that also includes the frugal 1.5-liter diesel from Renault, not yet available on the CLA. We cant confirm the 45 AMG Shooting Brake will be made, but since Mercedes makes fast version of all but a couple of its cars, chances look good.
