Chevrolet has yet to confirm a seventh-generation Corvette Stingray-based Z06/Z07, but we already know it’s scheduled to arrive by 2016 and its styling upgrades have already been rendered in the past.
However, details about the high-performance Vette are still scarce and limited to a 6.2-liter V8 tweaked to deliver 600-650 HP, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, a track-prepped suspension and a Tremec TR-6070 seven-speed manual gearbox. The name is also a mystery, with some sources claiming the Z06 will be dropped in favor the Z07 moniker.
But there’s good new coming from our photographers, who have spotted a Corvette Z06/Z07 prototype while being tested by GM and the batch of pictures you’re about to see below reveal a couple more details. There’s a new set of multi-spoke wheels wrapped in high-performance tires fitted to the vehicle, while the camouflage is obviously hiding a more pronounced hood bulge and some extra vents.
The debut date for the new Corvette Z06/Z07 is still unclear, but GM could introduce it at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show in January.
