While its old stablemates, the first-gen Touareg and Cayenne, have long since been put out to pasture, Audi's Q7 still soldiers on until a replacement is ready. Our spy photographers have managed to once again capture this new flagship SUV of the Audi range as it was undergoing testing.
While the look of this test mule still leaves much to be desired, a mix of Audi parts, the technology promised is more than exciting.
Derived from Audi-s MLB architecture, the 2015 Q7 is going to be lighter by somewhere between 650 and 800 lbs, thanks to aluminum and composite materials.
A lighter weight means engines will shrink as well, maybe going as low as 2 liters. Most of the engine range will center around 3-liter V6 displacement, topped off with the new twin-turbo 4-liter TFSI and the Toureg's new twin-turbo V8 diesel. A plug-in hybrid version will also be available, almost certainly from launch, scheduled for next year.
