Spyshots: 2014 McLaren MP4-12C Facelift [Updated]

The Nurburgring has recently welcomed yet another incarnation of the McLaren MP4-12C. Now that the Brits have presented the MP4-12 Spider, which came with some sort of a facelift, as well as offered the updates on the Coupe, it looks like they’re willing to give us another refresh.

Last time it upgraded the MP4-12C, McLaren used an open-minded attitude, following the advice of the customers. We drove the pre-revamp MP4-12C and the MP4-12C Spider and you could really feel the effect of all the little changes, which ranged from an optional vehicle lift system to a 25 hp bump.

Alas, there are still a few aspects of the car that could be improved, such as the feeling of driving something a bit artificial and we hope this is what they’ll be focusing on. The MP4-12C has some unique assets in the supercar world, such as its handling and it would be easier for these to shine once the little bugs are removed.

For now, the details are extremely limited. Nevertheless, unlike last time, we can expect some visual changes too, as the spied prototypes used heavy camo on the front fascia.

The 2014 McLaren MP4-12C facelift could make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall, but we’re expecting next year’s Geneva Motor Show in March to be the key date here.

Update: it seems that we kind of took the bait here, as McLaren is actually using an MP4-12C mule to test components for the upcoming P13 entry-level model.
