We’ve recently shown you a series of spyshots that revealed a McLaren MP4-12C wearing camo and we though we were dealing with a new refresh for the supecar. It appears that we were wrong and McLaren is actually using an MP4-12C mule to test some components for the upcoming P13, which will be slotted under the MP4.
McLaren has confirmed to multiple sources that the company was out testing various mechanical parts for its future entry-level model. For now the information is extremely limited, but the McLaren P13 is expected to hit the market in 2015. The vehicle will compete with cars such as the upcoming Mercedes GT and the Audi R8 V8.
Power is expected to come from a downtuned version of the company’s twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8, which should deliver about 450 hp.
