Our team of spy photographers has encountered a Mercedes SL test vehicle, with the car wearing significantly less camo than it did during the last encounter.
The vehicle is dressed in light brown and comes with more elegant lines, compared to the ones of the generation it replaces. Up front, we get a more generously-sized grille, with the headlights being more angular.

We are talking about a common design language across all of Merc's models, so it's difficult to tell where certain design features originate, but we can tell you that the headlights seem to be inspired from those of the new SLK, while the taillights say "CLS".

The prototype came with a panoramic glass roof and we expect the production version borrow the SLK's Magic Sky Control that allows you to choose between transparent and opaque glass.

The big news for what's under the hood is the introduction of Merc's new 4.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8, which has already made its appearance on other models. In addition to that, the carmaker is expected to re-introduce the V6 version on the US market.

The new generation of the Mercedes SL is now in the final stages of development, with the car  set to make its debut in the course of the following year.
