Thanks to the Evoque, Land Rover ar now on a roll and they are trying to build on the success of the Evoque even further, with the introduction of a sportier model. Even though it is not a completely new idea, as we’ve heard rumors of a sportier Evoque before, apparently this new piece of information comes from Gerry McGovern - Design Director at Land Rover.
With the introduction of the Audi RS Q3 concept in Beijing, and a future production variant of it, and now the Evoque Sport, a new market niche will be created: the 300+ hp small-hot-premium-crossover. It's only a matter of time before other (premium) manufactures will announce their entry into the segment.

Both the diesel and the petrol versions of the car will get a sporting touch. The current 2-liter EcoBoost petrol engine has been tuned to produce as much as 300hp in the Radical SR3 - 60hp up on the version used in the standard Evoque and, if needed, more power could be 'extracted'. The diesel will probably get a more mild power boost of 20 or maybe 30hp over the standard spec 2.2-liter motor.
