Here's a question that you probably do not know the answer to: can a V8-powered Dodge Challenger annihilate a fast BMW of similar proportions down the quarter mile?
The answer varies depending on the configuration of both cars, and it ultimately comes down to the drivers and how well they know their rides in order to obtain that perfect takeoff. And if you wanted to see such a drag race, then stick around, as this story is all about one that was (presumably) recently filmed at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

If we were to give credit to the video uploader, Wheels Plus channel on YouTube, then the German car in question is the BMW M3. However, it lacks some side trim, which makes us believe it is not the range-topping version of the 3 Series but a lesser grade. The M340i automatically comes to mind next, and if it is this model, then it probably does not stand a chance against its ad-hoc challenger (pun intended).

You see, the M340i from the G20 generation BMW 3 Series takes 4.6 seconds to sprint to sixty-two miles per hour (100 kph) as per the official spec sheet. It uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six gasoline engine that produces 382 horsepower. And while that is more than plenty for a daily sports sedan, it certainly lacks in this department compared to the Hellcat version of the Dodge Challenger, which enjoys over 700 hp from its supercharged 6.2-liter V8. That makes it roughly two seconds faster than the Bimmer.

But is this a Hellcat? It doesn't look like one, as our money would be on the Scat Pack, with its 485 hp 6.4-liter V8. By the looks of it, the 3er does not sport any upgrades, and neither has the presumed Scat Pack muscle car either. But does the Bimmer have enough grunt to actually pose a threat to the bad American muscle car down the quarter mile, or would the latter simply annihilate it by crossing the finish line a few seconds before it?

Only one way to find out, and that is by hitting the play button on the video embedded below. At one minute long, the clip is worth watching, and we won't spoil it by revealing the big winner of this particular drag race. We will, however, tell you that one of them ran the quarter mile in 12.84 seconds, with an exit speed of 112.53 mph (181.1 kph), whereas the other did it in 13.24 seconds at 104.40 mph (168.02 kph).

Before scrolling down to the footage, which one do you think won this drag race? Drop a line below and let us know, and remember that the underdog can always win the hypothetical gold medal.
