If you're in the market for a 1965 Impala, finding the right restoration candidate shouldn't be too hard. After all, the 1965 model year witnessed over 1 million units rolling off the assembly lines, as it was the Impala's best year.
However, finding a candidate worth the money and restoration effort is much more difficult. Many examples come with heavy rust damage, missing parts, and non-working or missing engines, turning the restoration into a challenging process that even professional restorers prefer to stay away from.

The 1965 Chevrolet Impala in these pictures landed on Craigslist this week with one big goal: find a new home or wave goodbye to the world.

The owner says this is the last attempt to sell the car. If it fails, they plan to take it apart, so in some way or another, they'll still get rid of the vehicle.

The photos in the gallery prove that restoring this Impala won't be easy. While the Super Sport package makes it a lot more intriguing than a regular Impala, the car exhibits major rust problems, getting this close to becoming a rust bucket. The floors look wrecked, albeit the owner claims they need patches. I think they need replacing, but you should put the car on a lift and look under it.

The trunk is seemingly better, and the rockers are "better than expected."

It's very clear that this Impala has been sitting for years, and the owner explains that its sleeping place was covered in sand. Theoretically, it means the car didn't struggle with high humidity, so the rust shouldn't be as horrible as you'd expect it to be. Well, it is, and the frame will need welding.

The car comes with a small-block V8 under the hood, but we get no specifics on its condition. It's probably a 283, but I wouldn't expect it to come in a working shape. This Impala has been going through a lot lately, and its frightening condition makes it a difficult project. Bringing it back to the road is a challenge, and I can only hope that someone sees this car and decides to begin what could be the most ambitious restoration project in their life.

Unsurprisingly, this Impala doesn't cost a fortune. You can get the car for only $1,100, but considering it comes with so many problems and without a title, I doubt someone will buy it with a restoration in mind. As a huge Impala fanboy, I admit it's sad to see another Impala biting the dust, so fingers crossed that whoever takes this alleged Super Sport home will take proper care of it.

You can find the Impala in Saint Francis, close to Minneapolis.
