So Wrong: Nissan Calls Scion FR-S a Midlife Crisis Car

The word is that Nissan is working on a “proper” budget sportscar, considering the Toyota GT 86 / Scion FR-S a midlife crisis-designed car.
Speaking to MotorTrend recently, Nissan executive vice president Andy Palmer, confirmed that their answer for the Toybaru will be unveiled at next moth’s Tokyo Motor Show, also considering it way better than what Toyota and Subaru spawned in 2012.

“Do we have any competitors [in the rear-drive sports car segment]?” Palmer asked rhetorically when prodded about the rumored small sports car. “Are you talking about the Subaru [BRZ]? It was a car designed for a 50-year-old. It’s for a midlife crisis. That’s not what we do.”

He enforced his statement by adding that we should prepare to see the not-for-mid-life-crisis sportscar at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show next week, where it will be officially unveiled.

We know about an isolate case of an old lady buying a Toyota GT 86, but that reveals nothing about the affordable, good-looking, tail-happy car being a good choice for a 50-year-old male wanting to relive his youth past. That’s what the Porsche Boxter is for...
