Jumping snowmobiles over mounds is definitely a cool way to spend some time in the winter, and if you also have someone to record your acrobatic skills things are even better. However, when it comes to having a guy close enough to your playground so that he or she can capture the smallest details of your weekend warrior routine, certain precautions are mandatory.
For starters, how about having a predefined “map” of the place and letting everyone on the premise know what things and where will they happen? Most of us tend to disregard such preparations and are easily distracted by the adrenaline rushing through the veins, but things can go wrong pretty easily.

And that’s why powersports need helmets…

Then it’s the need to wear protective gear, even though you’re not the one performing the stunts, in this case, the one riding a snowmobile. The fact alone that you’re out in the open and so close to sleds jumping over your head should be more than enough to make you think about your own safety.

Watching this video and trying to imagine how would it have ended if the photographer was not smart enough to wear head protection sort of gave us the creeps. We saw what happens when the spinning track of a snowmobile gets in contact with the human body, even with decent riding gear between the two.

If you ask us, it appears like the snowmobile rider was at fault this time, as he seems to have chosen a different track for jumping, which led to him landing in a completely different place from what the camera guy was expecting.

Hearing the sled hitting the helmet gave us goose bumps and seeing the fellow in one piece and safe was a true relief. He’ll definitely remember the moment when he decided to wear a helmet many winters from now on.
