German group Daimler has begun this week a strong offensive to pave the way for the revival of the smart brand. Having already presented several special editions of the model, including one at the 2011 North American International Auto Show, Daimler is now getting ready to introduce the facelifted smart pulse version.
Slotted in between the regular smart and nothing else, the pulse brings a sportier appearance to an otherwise very dull model, with the front and rear aprons and the side skirts being designed to fit in with the more angular lines of the model.
At the exterior, the pulse is fitted with 3-double-spoke alloy wheels with wide tires measuring 175/55 R 15 at the front and 195/50 R 15 at the rear and door mirror caps and radiator grille in black. On the inside, a 3-spoke leather sports steering wheel with additional shift paddles black fabric/ leather look of the upholstery the pearl black contrast components have been designed to match the sportier design.
The pulse will be available for both the coupe and the cabrio versions and will be offered with three engine choices: 71 hp petrol mhd with micro hybrid drive technology, 84 hp turbo petrol engine and 54 hp diesel fitted with a diesel particulate filter.
Daimler has not announced yet the prices which will go with the new version of the model. Until they become available, you may want to consider the fortwo nightorange edition presented last week. That version comes painted in black and orange and is available across the smart range starting from EUR13,995.
