After the recent launch of the new Smart ED, it has become clear that the manufacturer will not stop with the launch of only one EV. They will also be launching their electric scooter, fist shown at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, within the next two years.
The steel-framed electric scooter will be an integral and important part of the “Car2go” car sharing program, featuring a 5.4 hp (4-kW) motor which can push it to a top speed of 45 km/h (28 mph), while averaging a range of 100 km (60 miles) - all satisfactory numbers for a vehicle of this type.

First initiated this March, in Washington D.C. and Portland, Car2go is now operational in many cities around Europe and the US, and it is set to expand to a total of 30 cities, by 2016.

As the scooter is set for launch in 2014, it will definitely be offered as a lease, as well as an actual purchase, with the former option probably being the one favored by most, as it will probably be quite expensive to buy.
