Slider thefts mostly occur in parking lots or at gas stations, when the driver / owner of the vehicle is distracted for a few seconds, allowing the thief ample time to take their valuables.
This instance is slider crime at the next level, since the theft happened in plain sight of the victims: they were simply too stunned to react. It also happened in broad daylight and was captured by surveillance cameras, and police are now reaching out to the public for help with identifying the suspect.

With her in the car at the time was her daughter in law, who was sitting in the passenger seat and had the envelope with $1,000 in cash on the dashboard in front of her.
That morning, Jackson and her daughter in law had been at the bank to withdraw money for various expenses. Then, they drove to a storage facility to make a payment but since it wasn’t open, they decided to park the car and wait inside until it opened. That’s when the slider thief hit.
A silver Chrysler 300 was circling the parking lot even before he came and stole the money. Police believe the team had actually stalked the victims and seen them at the bank, which made them easy and very profitable marks. Then, they waited for the right moment to strike.
“The car came into the parking lot and I saw the car. But I was just thinking it was someone waiting for the storage place to open up,” Jackson says. “[The money] was going for storage. It was going for my rent. It was going for my groceries, my lights.”
It took the thief seconds to steal the money. He walked up to the parked car, leaned inside through the open passenger window and took the envelope with cash, and was gone by the time the women got out of the vehicle. Easiest job: go in, take the loot, get lost.
Police are asking members of the public who might recognize the suspect to give them a call, in the hopes it might lead to a positive ID.
