Another instance of slider crime is making headlines, this time from Georgia. One quick-thinking female driver managed to scare off a slider car thief by spraying him with gasoline.
The incident happened at a gas station in Rockdale County, as the woman was pumping gas. It was captured by nearby surveillance cameras, and police are urging people who might recognize the suspect to come forward with information, WSB-TV 2 Atlanta reports.

A Chrysler 300 dropped off the suspect at the gas station, and he’s seen sneaking towards a car stopped at the pump. The owner is right outside, pumping gas, and the man slides inside the car and, according to police, is getting ready to drive off in it.

That’s when the woman spotted him. Not knowing what to do at the sight of a stranger in her driver seat, she pulls the gas nozzle and sprays him with gas. It was enough to scare the would-be thief away.

Another surveillance camera picked up the same silver Chrysler 300 returning to retrieve the would-be slider thief. He’s seen jumping in the passenger seat further down the road and then going on his (gasoline-soaked) merry way.

One eyewitness describes the incident as something out of a Hollywood flick. “It was like a movie. I didn’t realize it was actually happening,” the man explains. “My son told me, he said, ‘Dad, I think he’s trying to steal the car,’ and I was looking, and I heard the car revving up and the next thing I know, he jumped out of the car and he started running.”

He thinks the way the woman reacted was brave and he too wants the cops to catch the dude, because he’s sure to strike again. And next time, maybe the car owner won’t think of using the gas nozzle to shoo him away.
