Skoda UK Motorsport Team Preparing for Rally Argentina

For those who have always wondered what happens outside the rallying world cameras’ reach, we present a little story of the UK Skoda Motorsport team’s latest adventure.

The racing team recently reached Argentina for this weekend’s Rally Argentina, round three of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC). Just as The Mask (we are referring to the green-faced cartoon character) took some time to smell the roses (or give someone a “wedgie”) before fighting the bad guys, using the famous “But fiiirst” introduction, the 12-men rally crew decided to enjoy a team building week between the Brazil Rally, which ended on March 6, and the upcoming event.

One of the highlights of the adventure was the entry to Argentina, performed at the Iguacu Falls, where the guys enjoyed a water rafting session on the Iguacu river. So this is where competitiveness starts - a lot of show-off drifts are now explained...

It’s been a great team-building week, and white water rafting was the pinnacle for strengthening team spirit. We’ve used the time between events productively. Phil (co-driver) and I have done a lot of fitness training, Škoda UK Motorsport is much stronger as a team because we’ve got to know each other very well and we’ve enjoyed some great sight-seeing tours. We’re all very focused on why we’re here though, so it’s not a holiday. We’ve spent more time than normal analyzing our performance in Brazil and preparing for Rally Argentina,” said Guy Wilks, Skoda UK racing driver.

After two round of the 2010 IRC season, Skoda holds the first position in the manufacturer’s competition, with 28 points, 7 points ahead of the next competitor. The driver’s competition is led by Skoda driver Juho Hanninen (14 points), seconded by Guy Wilks (11 points).
