Skoda today released a few more photos and details about the Superb Combi, its largest and most luxurious estate model ever. Ahead of the on-sale date in September, we are treated to some sights of the cargo space, which is the main reason people will look to buy this car.
When the rear hatch is opened, a cavernous space that's larger than on the E-Class is revealed. While the new Combi is only 23 mm longer than its predecessor, the boot holds 27 liters more than before.

Once the seats are folded flat, you can store up to 1,950 liters of luggage can be stuffed into the car. If that were water, it would mean you could theoretically fill the car with 2 tons of the thing.

Of course, that's impossible because it would bottom out the suspension, but to really get a sense of the space available, we need to take a look at the total length. Objects of up to 3.1 meters in length can fit, which means any flatpack furniture that fits in your house does so in the Superb as well.

Just like the saloon version, the new Skoda Superb estate is also available with the virtual pedal, which will enable you to open the tailgate hands-free by moving your foot around the bottom of the rear bumper. The function works in combination with the keyless lock and start system KESSY.

Closing the boot is just as easy. Just like on your typical BMW, it can be one by pressing the button on the remote or gently tipping the hatch down. Other functions are just as easy. For example, the roller cover folds by itself, and the rear seats in the new Superb Estate can now be folded down from the boot using a couple of levers.

Of course, this being a Skoda, there are intelligent storage solutions, 11 of the dotted about the car. One of the most practical features is the new coat shelf, which can be found under the roller cover. This can hold items, such as a jacket, and you don't have to worry about it getting wrinkled. A total of three nets will keep your items in place, and if you happen to lose something, there's an LED flashlight back there to help you find it.

Built on the MQB platform, the new Superb Combi shares most of its engines with the Passat. When the launch takes place in September, expect to buy anything from a 120 PS 1.6-liter TDI fuel sipper to a powerful 280 PS turbo. The most efficient model will burn about 3.5 liters per 100 kilometers, while the most powerful 2.0 TSI will get to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds with the help of all-wheel drive.
