Although Corvini's C6W model saw daylight in 1974, six-wheelers have always been a taboo subject for the automotive industry. Well, it appears that after a work of approximately 34 years, the folks at Corvini Engineering are finally prepared to launch a “unique” vehicle that, according to various sources, may reach a six-units limited production as early as 2009. In other words, the small carmaker aims to start a limited production of 6 units in the last months of 2009, according to information provided by LeftLaneNews citing Italiaspeed.

Before proceeding to more technical info, let's see a short history of the car. The company first displayed the Corvini C6W at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, bringing one of the most daring projects ever released: a six-wheel high-performance car capable of releasing an unusual high power for such a vehicle: 440 hp. The C6W project was officially started in 1974 and, even most people thought it was discontinued, it's now closer to limited production.

Technical specifications include a 4.2-liter V8 engine, similar to the ones used by Audi on some of its models but, according to figures provided by Corvini Engineering, capable of developing nearly 440 horsepower. Top speed was rated at 300 km/h, with the 4 steering front wheels allowing the vehicle “to increase braking, comfort and directional stability,” as mentioned on Corvini's website.

Total weight goes as much as 1200 kg, which “can give superb driving sensation,” while the six-speed manual transmission is said to provide a smooth and pleasant ride (at about 300 km/h!). Other specifications include: front and rear ventilated Brembo disc brakes, glass fiber and carbon fiber bodywork plus steel tubular chassis with carbon fiber reinforcements.
