Ferrari Showcased the 16M Scuderia Spider at the Bologna Motor Show

Having launched the Ferrari Scuderia 16M a while ago, the constructor decided to showcase it at the Bologna Motor Show on the December 3, 2008.

The car was launched to celebrate the 16th World Constructors' title won by the Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro in the 2008 F1 season and only 499 will ever be built. This model comes with two color schemes, with black and grey trim as standard and a tricolour livery available optionally.

The 16M's gearbox is borrowed from F1 and it features a dry dual clutch and electronic differential E-diff + F1-Trac. The brakes are carbon ceramic and there is a 5-way traction control system that lets you have a play when you want to, while being very restrictive when you are not in the mood. “Steering wheel-mounted manettino with five settings to integrate the F1 gearbox, CST and F1-Trac (Stability and Traction Control System), suspension control,” Ferrari said in a press statement.

The 16M Spider is 80 kg lighter than the F430 Spider, but the engine power has been increased to 510 hp, which gives the supercar a power to weight ratio of 2.6 kg/HP, making the red horse sprint to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 315 km/h.

The new “prancing horse” clocked on the Fiorano circuit a lap time of only 1'26”5, making this exotic vehicle the fastest drop top Ferrari.

The Scuderia sports a special plaque inside that reminds the driver why this car was ever built and a 16GB iPod touch docked in the dash.
