It's models such as the BMW M2, Audi RS 3, and Mercedes-AMG CLA that come to mind when speaking about sporty premium subcompact rides. But they're not the only ones in the segment, as Cadillac also targets them with the CT4-V Blackwing.
A performance version of the regular Cadillac CT4-V, the Blackwing is not exactly a brand-new ride, as it has been around for a little over three years. GM's premium car marque unveiled it at the beginning of 2021 as the successor to the old ATS-V.

It still features a twin-turbo 3.6L V6 with twin turbocharging, just like its predecessor. However, the motor is not identical, as Caddy's engineers improved it. Stuff such as the crankshaft air intake, software, turbine wheels, and others are part of the novelties.

The spec sheet reveals that the lump pushes out 472 horsepower (479 ps/352 kW) and 445 pound-foot (603 Nm) of torque, which is comparable to the larger BMW M3 in the standard specification. The premium subcompact sports sedan will run out of breath at 189 mph (304 kph) and takes 3.9s to reach 60 mph (97 kph).

Those who cannot be bothered with changing gears by hand can get it with a ten-speed automatic transmission. However, they will have to pay extra for it, as it comes with a stick shift with six forward gears as standard. It also features Brembo brake calipers, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, and a suspension configuration similar to that of the larger CT5-V Blackwing.

It's also nicely equipped, featuring stuff such as massaging seats with heating and ventilation at the front, leather upholstery, and a microfiber headliner. Regarding pricing, you are looking at a minimum of $61,495 for a new Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, excluding destination and dealer fees.

The regular CT4-V starts at $47,095, packing a 2.7L turbo-four with 325 hp (330 ps/242 kW) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm). The BMW M2 starts at $63,200, the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S at $65,400, and the Audi RS 3 Sedan at $62,300. All pricing excludes the destination and handling charge.

Now, anyone with a slight thing for the CT4-V Blackwing likely knows everything about it. After all, it's been around for over three years, and we have seen it in all kinds of scenarios during this time. Nonetheless, if you ever wanted to see a POV test drive of the sports sedan with absolutely no feedback from the person driving it, then you have come to the right place, as Winding Road Magazine on YouTube has got you covered.

The video embedded below is worth a watch, especially if you don't want to hear the driver's opinion on all kinds of things. It is almost 16 minutes long, so if you are looking for an excuse to take a short break from whatever it is that you are doing, then this is it.
