Shelby to Return as Sponsor for NASCAR LVMS

Shelby Automobiles announced today it will return to the 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup as a sponsor for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, an event which will be named Shelby American. The decision was made as a means to celebrate the 45 anniversary of the Shelby GT 350 and 427 Cobra.

We are ecstatic to have the legendary Shelby name on our NASCAR Sprint Cup race for a second consecutive year,” Chris Powell, LVMS president said in a release.

This year’s event was a tremendous success, and we’re looking forward to giving more exposure to the Shelby brand that has, over the years, become synonymous with the best in high-performance cars.

It is not the first time when Shelby teams with LVMS for the event. This year, the two partnered in the Shelby 427 race, a 27-mile and 18 laps longer than usual.

Next year will mark an important milestone for two of the most legendary vehicles Shelby ever produced,” Amy Boylan, Shelby Auto president added. “The Shelby American NASCAR Sprint Cup event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is the perfect way to celebrate this historic occasion.”

The LVMS event will start on February 26, with the qualifying for the Shelby American NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The next day, the Sam’s Town 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race will be hosted by LVMS. The Shelby American race per se will be held on Sunday.
