Seek-the-Peak Sponsored by Subaru

Subaru of America announced today it will be the official sponsor of this year's Seek the Peak Hike-a-Thon, an event scheduled to debut today, July 24. The goal of the event is to raise money for the Mount Washington Observatory, a facility located on one of the coldest places on the planet.

"Sponsoring Seek the Peak is a great way for Subaru to interact with people that have an affinity for our products," Tim Mahoney, Subaru of America senior vice president said in a release. "We know that our customers enjoy the types of educational activities offered through the Mount Washington Observatory and hope that our support has helped expand their educational offerings."

In 2008, the fund raiser managed to donate $100,000 to the observatory. This year marks the 17th year in which Subaru sponsors the Seek-the-Peak event. Subaru, the "Official Vehicle" of the Mount Washington Observatory, provides its longest-running non-profit partner with two vehicles to be used in education and research.

"Subaru's support means so much to the Observatory," Scot Henley, Mount Washington Observatory Executive Director added. "As a presenting sponsor of Seek the Peak and an underwriter of our educational programs, Subaru makes a real impact in the Observatory, year after year."

The Mount Washington Observatory is a private, non-profit scientific and educational institution. It operates a mountaintop weather station as well as a research facility for the the study of most aspects of icing, cloud, and atmospheric phenomena, as well as for the testing of instruments, devices and materials.
