SEAT Leon X-Perience Gets New Engines: 1.4 TSI 125 HP and 1.6 TDI with FWD

When the SEAT Leon X-Perience was launched, we were told that there were going to be four drivetrains available, only one of which was a TSI petrol. However, we were playing in the configurator sandbox and discovered there are now six. What gives? Simple, two more front-wheel drive versions were added.
The first is the cheapest version of the Leon X-perience yet sold. It's fitted with the basic 1.4 TSI turbo engine, which produces 125 PS and 200 Nm of torque (147 lb-ft). Available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox, it consumes an average of 5.3 l/100km (53 mpg UK) and emits 122 g/km.

In Spain, SEAT's home market, prices start at only €19,260, but by the time it reaches Germany, taxes bump the price to €24,420.

The other new model we stumbled upon is a 1.6 TDI making 110 PS and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). Sure, the Leon X-Perience was available with this engine from the start, but now you can order it without the 4DRIVE all-wheel drive system, which makes the car exactly €2,000 cheaper.

You also lose the 6-speed manual, which is replaced by a 5-speed, but both fuel consumption and emissions are improved (3.9 l/100km or 72.4 mpg and 103 grams of CO2).

We looked high and low, but couldn't find any dealership that has these economy models in stock, so they're probably only entering production as we speak.

The Leon X-Perience continues to be available with two versions of the 2.0 TDI (150 and 184 PS), plus the 1.8-liter turbo TSI making 180 PS. We've recently discovered that this model is the only one to have an exhaust pipe on either side. But the fuel economy is almost double that of a basic diesel, so it's not terribly efficient.
