The SEAT Leon Cupra is a very cool car, bordering on cult for some people. But unlike the old model, which looked like it was ready to take off, the latest wants to be too civilized and classy for its own good. That's where SEAT specialist tuners JE Design step in with a project after our heart.
The first thing they did was to upgrade the curb appeal of the Leon Cupra with a widebody kit. This costs €6,200 and includes 3 inserts for the front bumper, fender flares, carbon-look side skirts and a diffuser at the back.

There are changes in the metal bits as well. A coilover suspension kit from KW brings the Cupra lower to the ground by a few millimeters and strengthens the dynamic package. A stainless steel sports exhaust system has also been fitted and with four pipes sticking out the back of the car, it certainly looks the part.

Both the exhaust and new springs cost around €2,300, so by now you've added well over €10,000 of extra equipment to the hatchback. If you still have more cash in the pocket, you can also add a set of 19-inch alloy wheels with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT, adding another €2,050 to the cost of your project.

350 HP – that's how much power the tuned 2-liter turbo engine now delivers. It's a significant 70 HP upgrade and it means the front wheels of this car have to deal with steering and more power than a BMW M135i or a Mercedes E 400. Torque is up as well, from 380 Nm to 40 Nm (324 lb-ft).

Despite now having more power than a Golf R, the Leon by JE is slower. It takes the 0 to 100 km/h stride in 5.4 seconds. But after that, it should be faster. The cost of all this mental 2-liter performance is a relatively reasonable €2,300.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
