Welcome to the world of weird and wonderful hot hatchbacks. Most people who don’t know the supermini hot hatch segment think the big diesel engine died with the old Skoda Fabia vRS. That’s not true though.
Both Audi and SEAT kept it alive. The Ibiza FR, which is like a well dressed version of the regular car, and the A1 both offer a 2.0 TDI engine, an older generation unit rated at 143 PS and 320 Nm of torque.
That’s a lot for a 4-meter car, but not enough for some people, who want petrol engine levels of power. We’ve discovered discovered this cool video created by a French company called Digiservices, who have tuned the 2.0 TDI. On the dyno, stock output is a little higher than claimed: 149 PS. After a quick ECU remap, output has risen to 191.6 PS and 411.8 Nm of torque. That’s more than the Cupra!
What can you do with such a car? Probably smoke a MINI Cooper SD, which is no small task.
