Schumacher Insists Ferrari Relationship Still Good

Although Michael Schumacher is still regarded as a traitor by the majority of the Italian tifosi, the 41-year old German told the media that his relationship with the people back at Maranello did not suffer too much from his signing with rivals Mercedes. After spending 14 years at Ferrari, Schuey insisted that all the great moments experienced at Maranello cannot be erased in a few months.

You can't forget and deny all the good moments together. I'm still in regular contact; every so often Stefano calls me up,” said Schumacher in an interview with Germany's Bild newspaper.

The fact that some Ferrari fans were angry with Schuey for his decision to trade his position at Ferrari for a racing spot with Mercedes is no news. However, some sections of the Italian media have also joined this “wave”, following Schumacher's latest commercial for the German manufacturer.

In it, the 7-time world champion is wearing Mercedes' traditional silver overalls, but steps out of a red sports car. He also winks in the process.

During the same interview though, the 7-time world champion insisted that this did not bring any changes to his relationship with the Ferrari organization. In fact, he revealed he was invited to their annual Wrooom event – which was kinda' odd, giving the fact that Ferrari was presenting their new team for the 2010 season – while also being asked to take place in some of Ferrari's annual football matches during the grand prix weekends.

Seriously, the relationship with Ferrari will always be good. They already invited me to the traditional football games at the races,” added the German, who jokingly presented how the pit stops will work out for him next season: “The Ferrari guys would probably give me rain tires in the sunshine.
