Let’s be honest, riding around town on a hot summer day isn’t a pleasure wearing leather riding pants. Some riders can’t even stand Kevlar-reinforced jeans as the second layer adds bulkiness. Well, Australian denim brand Saint is back with a new pair of fully CE rated textile riding pants called the Model 1.
Saint’s previously introduced Unbreakable denim pants could withstand a slide on asphalt for 3.75 seconds. That is a lot compared to the 0.4 seconds average standard denim can hold, but wasn’t enough to meet CE level 1 safety regulations.

Well, Saint is back now with the Model 1 jeans that can cope with asphalt slides for up to 5.9 seconds. The company claims the new model is the first single-layer type jeans that can truly meet CE level 1 standards. And they do this without relying on Kevlar lining that creates discomfort for the rider.

The Model 1 jeans are made using a double warp beam that combines the world’s strongest fiber, known as Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), with cotton. The structure is rated 15 times stronger than carbon steel at a similar dimension, but it’s still light enough to float on water.

The durable riding jeans are fitted by default with CE level 1 knee armor and CE level 2 hip pads. They are also finished with a triple-stitch seam to prevent ruptures and feature accordion stretch panels at the knee-joint area.

Saint’s Model 1 denim riding pants come in straight leg and boot leg cuts at a price of $350. Might sound a bit steep for a pair of riding jeans, but considering the fact that they come with full armor along with the new material technology and stretch panels, they do seem a good investment. For comparison purpose, the Saint Unbreakable is sold at $500 while the REV’IT Rockefeller with Cordura-reinforced denim and Coolmax technology is priced at $350.
