Saab Names New Sales Exec for North America

Being right in the middle of a reorganization process which it hopes will bring it to new heights, Swedish manufacturer Saab announced today the appointment of a new sales executive in charge with its operations in North America.

The position will be filled, starting March 15, by James Sweeting, a man with a strong knowledge of the local market, Saab biggest. Sweeting has been employed for the past 27 years by all those who mean something on the automotive scene on the continent, starting with Chrysler and ending with American Honda.

For Saab, the new executive will be in charge with the operations of Saab in the United States, with no major plans to expand the Canadian operations announced just yet.

"We are honored to have Jim join our North American team in a very pivotal year for Saab Cars North America," said Matthias Seidl, executive director of Global Sales and Aftermarket at Saab Cars North America.

"Jim's extensive automotive sales experience will help rebuild Saab's presence in the North American market, ultimately increasing volume opportunities with our new product portfolio - the all-new 9-5 sedan, Saab's first crossover, the 9-4X, the 9-5 SportCombi and highly anticipated all-new 9-3."

Sweeting will become part of the new sales organization announced by Saab weeks before the start of the Geneva Auto Show. The new organizational setup is meant to support the biggest new models offensive ever launched by Saab. Even the company's new owner, Victor Muller, in an effort to show his commitment to the newly acquired business, decided to sell his other business, Spyker, a few days before Geneva started.
